Some beautiful fish in the canyon need to get back up there. Water is flowing fast as of yesterday, people still catching some nice fish in deckers.
Love the instincts of your dogs, at every landing!
Yeah, those are some good pups. Thanks for your viewership. -Tim
If you could at the end of your video have tips of type of fly and tippet to use, that would be helpful for a beginner. I am a U.S. Army Veteran and I really enjoy your videos.
That's a good idea. Thank you for the feedback, your viewership, and most importantly your service to me and my family. -Tim
Great video! So overall ... spanning all your trips ... do have a few favorite flies to recommend for alpine Cutts?
Can't go wrong with a partridge wing caddis, a foam hopper, and foam flying ant for dries. For subsurface, balanced leach (olive & black) and green and/or black snow cone chironomids. -Tim
It is my favorite fly and I only brought one!...Hank Patterson
Love it . Hitting the mountain lake in the eagles and elkhorns of eastern Oregon. Even if I told land a fish just the experience love it thanks
Great video! Is early June too late due to flows? I know you said Memorial Day is cut off but wanted to see if anything has changed recently
Not that I've seen, but with the little amount of snowfall this year, who knows. -Tim
@@CombatFlyFishing thanks for taking time to respond
How did I miss this release? Very cool vid! And how do I get a Combat hat?
Thanks. I’m glad you liked it. As far as the hats go, I’m hoping to get a website up and running with some options posted. As always I appreciate your comments. Hope to see you out there one day. -Tim
What time of year was this? I’m trying to plan a trip for my girlfriend and I to hit a few alpine lakes and streams along the way. We’re from Buffalo ny and have never been into Colorado. Thanks in advance!
Alpine lakes are usually fishable from the 2nd week of July through the first week of November. Good luck and thanks for watching. -Tim
Lol you can tell how new to the state you are by how surprised you are by the weather 😂
The year was 2023. That drought let up 😂
Tim I gotta say, I’d love to go fishing with you boys one day! There’s a lot of knowledge in your group for sure. Love the videos buddy!
Thanks Alex. I appreciate the kind words. -Tim
Beautiful area amazing fish colors spectacular. Happy Fishing!
Thank you. I was a great day for sure. -Tim
Any guides you would recommend?
I always had luck with a leach (brown or green)
Leaches can be really productive on that river, for sure. -Tim
One day at the Dream, my fishing buddy and I caught over 100 trout. Tight Lines! ><>
That’s a day to remember for sure! -Tim
The Dream Stream❤❤👊🏼👊🏼
That was awesome man. Nj
Thanks! That was a fun one. -Tim
Nothing like looking at a 20 or 30 year old fishing pole & saying "Damn we've made some memories together & we're gonna make tons more!"
Well said, @jayryan7473 -Tim
Beautiful fish!
Golden brown
Wow stunning
Ive caught alotta nice fish outta that bend,. Nice vid and keep'em coming.. Tight lines!
Thanks. I appreciate the words of encouragement. -Tim
Absolutely gorgeous lake! The view around sundown must be FANTASTIC.
What fly did he eat?
I heard that back in the day you could drive down from the upper section and park. Also that they restricted access by car after 9eleven.
I've fished that area many years before 9/11/01 and although before 911 you were allowed to walk the service road all the way to the river, you were never allowed to drive it. After 911 the Denver Water Board built the hiking route that exists today that bypasses the road. Today the service road is closed to the general public. -Tim
@@CombatFlyFishing Thanks for clearing that up. I have always wondered why.
Hey longtime subscriber and what nice fish! I’m planning on fishing well south of where you are but in the same state, within the next few weeks. Would you recommend i wait as far as planning? Im driving from Santa Fe, so id be into the Conejos river Valley. Thanks-matt.. You slay the blood midge man, I’ve 30:02 30:02 seen you catch monster browns on that!
@mattier3030 thanks for your longtime viewership I really appreciate it. The only advise I have is to keep a close eye on the river flows and log onto local fly shops websites for fishing updates. Here's a link to Colorado river flows. The flows are updated every 15 minutes. dwr.state.co.us/tools/stations
Sounds like you need to teach your buddy Kyle how to set the hook! But great fish!
He’ll get there. With a little practice and a little luck, anything is possible.
Liked and subscribed (long ago). You have that whole river down pretty well. I can’t seem to figure it out. I do well all over the state but not that river. Any resources you can forward that might help change that, especially during the colder months? I’d appreciate it. And great video and spectacular fish. Keep it up. Thanks Tim.
I’m gonna do a tying video on a blood midge that seems to kill it year round there but especially in the fall and winter. Thanks for your loyal viewership. I appreciate you. -Tim
Awesome. I’d also love to see the rig you put that on, unless it forces you to divulge any top secret info. Thanks.
@@seanaudi13 that’s a good idea for a quick video. I get a lot of requests for rig set up. It’s about time I put something together.
Great fish. Thanks for the videos. Ask Stu about coming south sometime and fishing our family property. Also, what reel blew up… try and avoid that brand, lol.
Thank you. I'm grateful you enjoy the videos. As for the reel, it was an old family hand-me-down. Was on it's last leg. I'm not sure the brand. -Tim
Nice rod and great break in!
Yeah, that was a heck of a first run for sure. The rod casted great. -Tim
Please remember to LIKE this video and SUBSCRIBE to the channel to help support future videos. Thank you all. -Tim
Had quite a day on the Blue, with all of them taking this pattern. Thanks!
I’m glad it worked well for you. -Tim
Keep em wet!
Did you hear about the issue on the South Platte near deckers? All the big browns are dying I found 4 over 18" yesterday while I was fishing
No, I had not heard.
Thank you for saving the fish!
Hey combat, you so sneaky.
Did you release him?
Of course. Catch & Release. -Tim
@@CombatFlyFishing noice! What a beautiful fish 🐟
super fun lake
Nice fish at the chimes Tim! I think I sold you that reel! Lol
You probably did, as well as a few other pieces of gear. -Tim
I grew up fly fishing the SP, and now I’m working abroad. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through your videos 🤝
I'm glad I could satisfy a little nostalgia. I appreciate your viewership. -Tim
Those are some well educated trout in that lake for sure. Had a similar fall experience at another lake north of there with lots of big fish lazily cruising and not eating with tons of flying ants and other bugs on the surface. Figured they were in a food coma after trying everything in the fly box.
Yeah, they were tough. That lake is an enigma wrapped in a riddle. -Tim
I absolutely love how u don't fish trout on the beds
Yeah, you got to leave the redds alone. -Tim
@@CombatFlyFishing most ppl take it as a easy catch. Trout in Denver Platte are spawning right now to I've been watching them bed up and find mates the last two weeks while carppin
If that was my catch, I'd be eatin well that evening.
Nice catch man! What are these guys eating on
Size 18 blood midge chased with a size 20 grey flashback RS2 brought several fish to the net. -Tim
I always pet those two when I hit the dream
It's a beaut
Don't feel bad that lake is super tough, my buddy did get a giant out of their last season though.
Yeah, it's by far the toughest I've fished. Maybe one of these days I'll figure it out. -Tim
Great video! Can't wait to see fall videos of hunting those big browns
@theguynamedgage Those videos are in the works, my friend. -Tim
